Net Casino Sucker Bets — Part II

  • Progressive side bets: Games like Caribbean Stud Poker regularly have one of these. You typically lay a bet ($1 is the normal amt.) to try to win a side jackpot that could reach $25,000. Although huge jackpots like these are particularly alluring, they’re also very complicated to win. You would need to get a Royal Flush in order to succeed on this wager. Also, picture this- you play 20 hands and put the side wager every time. That’s $20 you could have used towards the actual game wager in place of a sucker wager. Picture what you could have been able to win at a wager with better odds using that $20.
  • Individual number wagers in Roulette: This is particularly true for American Roulette. Why? American Roulette has 2 0’s on the wheel, as opposed to European Roulette, which has only one. This takes the complete house edge from two% with a single zero wheel to a huge five% in American. The one number wager has just a 1 in 38 chance of winning, which are very long odds indeed. Bet on even-odd or black-red bets as a substitute which have a much lower casino edge.
  • Keno: Any version of Keno, and anyway you play it, the house edge can be a whopping 25%. Yes, that wasn’t a typo. Due to the huge amount of numbers you have to select, it isn’t recommended to bet on Keno very much. A number of times for fun, perhaps. But do not spend all your cash on it or you’ll quickly discover yourself bankrupt.
