Internet Casino Sucker Wagers — Part 2

  • Progressive side bets: Games like Caribbean Stud Poker commonly offer one of these. You typically put a wager (a dollar is the usual amt.) to attempt to win a side jackpot that could be upwards of twenty-five thousand dollars. Although huge jackpots like this are particularly appealing, they are also incredibly hard to win. You would need to get a Royal Flush in order to win this wager. Also, picture this- you wager 20 hands and lay the side wager each time. That is $20 you could have used towards the real game bet in place of a sucker wager. Picture what you might have been able to win at a wager with greater odds using that twenty dollars.
  • Individual number wagers in Roulette: This is particularly true for American Roulette. Why? American Roulette has 2 zeroes on the wheel, unlike European Roulette, which has just one. This shifts the complete house advantage from 2% with one zero wheel to a whopping five% in American. The one number wager has just a 1 in thirty eight chance of succeeding, which are very big odds indeed. Bet on even-odd or black-red wagers instead which have a much lower casino advantage.
  • Keno: Any version of Keno, and anyway you bet on it, the casino edge can be a whopping 25%. Yes, that is not a typo. Because of the large amount of numbers you must choose, it is not recommended to play Keno to often. A number of times for enjoyment, perhaps. But don’t waste all your money on it or you’ll immediately find yourself bankrupt.
