Net Casino Sucker Wagers — Part II

[ English | Deutsch | Español | Français | Italiano ]
  • Progressive side wagers: Games like Caribbean Stud Poker regularly contain one of these. You generally place a wager (a dollar is the usual value) to attempt to win a bonus jackpot that could be upwards of twenty-five thousand dollars. Though big jackpots like this are particularly appealing, they’re also very difficult to succeed. You might need to get a Royal Flush in order to win this wager. Also, imagine this- you play 20 hands and put the side wager each time. That’s 20 dollars you should have used towards the actual game bet instead of a sucker bet. Imagine what you might have been able to win at a wager with better odds using that $20.
  • Individual number bets in Roulette: This is particularly true for American Roulette. Why? American Roulette has 2 0’s on the wheel, as opposed to European Roulette, which has only 1. This takes the overall casino edge from two% with a single zero wheel to a whopping five% in American. The single number wager has just a 1 in 38 chance of succeeding, which are very long odds indeed. Bet on even-odd or black-red wagers as a substitute which have a much lower house edge.
  • Keno: Any variation of Keno, and anyway you play it, the house advantage can be a whopping 25%. No, that was not a typo. Due to the large set of numbers you must pick, it’s not advisable to gamble on Keno to often. A few times for fun, maybe. But don’t spend all your money on it or you’ll quickly discover yourself beaten.
